La gare a ici \u00e9t\u00e9 inaugur\u00e9e le 27 mai 1878 sous le nom de \u00ab Haelen-Lez-Diest \u00bb. Le b\u00e2timent principal de la gare a probablement \u00e9t\u00e9 construit au tournant du si\u00e8cle. Il s\u2019agissait d\u2019un mod\u00e8le classique de type \u00ab\u00a0Etat belge\u00a0\u00bb, avec une partie centrale et deux ailes. La seule particularit\u00e9 du b\u00e2timent \u00e9tait une extension de la salle d\u2019attente c\u00f4t\u00e9 rue, une caract\u00e9ristique que l\u2019on retrouvait \u00e9galement dans d\u2019autres gares de la ligne. En 1910, le nom a \u00e9t\u00e9 chang\u00e9 en \u00ab\u00a0Haelen (Diest)\u00a0\u00bb.<br>La gare disposait d\u2019une voie de croisement.  Une petite cour de triage avec une voie de garage a \u00e9t\u00e9 am\u00e9nag\u00e9e en 1926. Le service des voyageurs a \u00e9t\u00e9 supprim\u00e9 le 29 septembre 1957. Le tron\u00e7on entre Halen et Diest a disparu en ao\u00fbt 1965. Halen a ensuite \u00e9t\u00e9 desservie depuis Tirlemont jusqu\u2019au d\u00e9but de l\u2019ann\u00e9e 1970. Peu de temps apr\u00e8s, la voie restante a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9mantel\u00e9e et la gare a \u00e9galement disparu.
