Nous sommes sur la ligne 78, entre Saint-Ghislain et Tournai, au c\u0153ur du \u00ab&nbsp;Pays blanc&nbsp;\u00bb.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La gare de Vaulx a \u00e9t\u00e9 ouverte par la Compagnie des Bassins Houillers du Hainaut, qui avait repris les concessions de la Compagnie du Chemin de Fer Hainaut-Flandre qui avait lanc\u00e9 les rails de Saint-Ghislain vers Audenarde\u2026 et, plus tard, vers De Pinte. Cette jonction avait permis de relier le bassin houiller du Borinage au port de Gand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La station de Vaulx est mise en service le 15 f\u00e9vrier 1870. Le b\u00e2timent principal, o\u00f9 l\u2019on trouvait la salle d\u2019attente et le guichet, s\u2019articulait autour d\u2019une partie centrale avec \u00e9tage pour le logement de service. Les ailes, au toit plat, comprenaient les locaux des services techniques et administratifs. La gare \u00e9tait \u00e9galement \u00e9quip\u00e9e d\u2019un hangar aux marchandises, d\u2019une rampe de chargement et de locaux pour le service de la voie, notamment, une cave \u00e0 p\u00e9trole, une loge pour les piocheurs. Certains plans font m\u00eame appara\u00eetre un\u2026 poulailler! Une petite cabine de signalisation \u00e9tait situ\u00e9e tout pr\u00e8s du passage \u00e0 niveau d\u2019une petite route aujourd\u2019hui disparue. Les infrastructures de Vaulx ont \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9molies en 1967.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La ligne 78 a \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9lectrifi\u00e9e en 1982, alors que Vaulx \u00e9tait devenue un simple point d\u2019arr\u00eat depuis la disparition de sa gare, en raison de la mont\u00e9e en puissance du transport par la route. Le poids d\u2019arr\u00eate a \u00e9t\u00e9 supprim\u00e9 le 3 juin 1984, dans le cadre du plan IC\/IR. Le bus a remplac\u00e9 le train sur le site de l'\u00a0\u00bbancienne gare\u00a0\u00bb. <em>(Photos: SagaGares et Chr. Vaulx fut, en son temps, la plus grande gare industrielle du bassin carrier. Deux chemins de fer priv\u00e9s y \u00e9taient raccord\u00e9s: celui du Prince de Ligne et celui d\u2019Alexandre Dapsens, ferm\u00e9 en 1930 et transf\u00e9r\u00e9 \u00e0 Havinnes. La gare de Vaulx \u00e9tait ainsi, dans les ann\u00e9es 20, un important n\u0153ud de transit carrier: outre les deux voies principales, un faisceau de 14 voies de plus de 300 m\u00e8tres permettait de trier les wagons transportant la production des carri\u00e8res locales raccord\u00e9es \u00e0 la gare: Lemay, le Coucou, les Carri\u00e8res et Fours de Vaulx et
